Abstract

The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital technologies has significantly reshaped religious life, educational structures, and cultural practices across global Muslim societies. Among the most profound expressions of Islamic identity are Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, which historically functioned not only as religious festivals but also as educational, ethical, and communal institutions. These celebrations embodied values of unity, gratitude, sacrifice, and social responsibility while reinforcing intergenerational transmission of Islamic knowledge. In the contemporary digital age, Eid celebrations and Islamic educational traditions are increasingly mediated through virtual platforms, AI-driven systems, online learning environments, and algorithmic religious content. This transformation has created new opportunities for accessibility, global connectivity, and knowledge preservation, while simultaneously raising critical concerns regarding authenticity, religious authority, misinformation, commercialization of sacred rituals, and the erosion of traditional scholarly mentorship. This research critically examines the transformation of Eid celebrations and Islamic educational traditions through insights derived from Encyclopaedia of Islam and contemporary Digital Islam scholarship. It employs a qualitative, interpretive methodology rooted in Islamic ethics, sociology of religion, and digital cultural studies. The study argues that Artificial Intelligence, when guided by Islamic ethical principles such as justice (ʿadl), trust (amānah), truthfulness (ṣidq), and public welfare (maṣlaḥah), can become a powerful instrument for preserving Islamic heritage and strengthening global Islamic education. However, unchecked technological integration risks reducing sacred religious experiences into fragmented digital content, weakening the moral depth of Islamic pedagogy, and transforming Eid from a spiritual institution into a commercialized digital spectacle. The study concludes that a balanced ethical framework is necessary to harmonize technological innovation with Islamic spiritual integrity."In the contemporary digital era, religion is not disappearing; rather, it is transforming its modes of expression, communication, and presence through digital technologies and networked media.
