This paper presents a brief study of the political environment reflected in the Maqāmāt of al-Ḥarīrī. It outlines the political context of the Abbasid period, provides a concise definition of the maqāmah as a literary genre, and discusses the reasons for its emergence. The study then highlights how al-Ḥarīrī depicts contemporary political and administrative realities through satire, narrative structure, and rhetorical expression. It argues that the Maqāmāt offer an implicit portrayal of political instability and social conditions, revealing the interaction between literary form and political context. Using a descriptive and analytical approach, the paper demonstrates that al-Ḥarīrī’s Maqāmāt serve as both a literary innovation and a reflection of their political milieu.
