Abstract

This study delves into the "Kitāb al-Fitan" (Book of Trials) section of Al-Durr al-Manẓūd ʻalā Sunan Abī Dāwūd, an esteemed commentary by Mawlānā Muḥammad ʻĀqil on Imam Abū Dawūd's renowned Ḥadīth collection. The Kitāb al-Fitan explores prophetic traditions concerning the trials, tribulations, and signs preceding the Day of Judgment. Mawlānā ʻĀqil's commentary provides an in-depth analysis of these trials, categorizing them into minor and major events while emphasizing the importance of religious knowledge and adherence to the Prophet Muhammad’s (ﷺ) Sunnah as essential guidance for overcoming these challenges. Furthermore, the commentary sheds light on the eschatological signs narrated in the prophetic traditions, offering a detailed and practical framework for understanding the moral, spiritual, and societal implications of such events. By critically engaging with the text, this article highlights the relevance of Al-Durr al-Manẓūd as a significant resource for addressing contemporary challenges, fostering steadfastness in faith, and navigating the complexities of life amidst trials.
